Itinerary
This tour travels through remote regions on unsealed and corrugated roads. Travel is in a forward-facing 4WD vehicle; while comfortable, some sections may be bumpy.
- Guests should be comfortable with uneven terrain, gorge walks, swimming or wading through water, and warm daytime temperatures, often above 30°C.
- A moderate to active level of fitness and mobility is required. Walk distances and activity levels are outlined in the itinerary.
Bedding configurations vary by location. Some stays offer double bedding only whilst other will offer twin share. For nights 7-9 there will be stretcher beds and swags offered due to the Western Kimberley region being very remote. Further details are outlined in the itinerary.
Meals on tour are simple, nourishing, and satisfying.
This is a hands-on adventure, and guests are encouraged to assist with light camp duties such as setting up, helping with meals, or clearing dishes.

1 Day 1: Broome to Windjana Gorge (L D)
Depart Broome and journey into the heart of the Kimberley, travelling via Derby and stopping to see the
famous Boab Prison Tree before continuing towards the spectacular Napier Range. Settle into your campsite near Windjana Gorge for your first night beneath the Kimberley stars.- Meals: Lunch, Dinner

2 Day 2: Windjana Gorge & Bell Gorge (BLD)
Rise early to explore the towering limestone walls of Windjana Gorge, carved through the ancient Napier Range and renowned for its dramatic scenery and wildlife. Continue along the Gibb River Road to Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge), where cascading waterfalls and beautiful natural pools create one of the West Kimberley’s most memorable landscapes.

3 Day 3: Manning Gorge & Galvans Gorge (BLD)
Spend the day discovering two of the Gibb River Road’s best-known natural swimming spots. Explore beautiful Manning Gorge, with its rugged escarpments, sandy banks and refreshing waterholes, before visiting picturesque Galvans Gorge, a secluded oasis framed by rocky cliffs and Kimberley bushland.

4 Day 4: Gibb River Road & Kununurra (BL)
Continue your journey along the legendary Gibb River Road, travelling through vast cattle stations, rugged ranges and classic Kimberley landscapes. Visit El Questro’s spectacular Emma Gorge, where a rewarding walk leads through the dramatic Cockburn Ranges to a beautiful waterfall and natural swimming hole. Continue to Kununurra and settle into the Kununurra Country Club Resort.

5 Day 5: Mirima National Park & Lake Argyle (BL)
Take a leisurely morning stroll through Mirima National Park (Hidden Valley), often described as a miniature Bungle Bungles, along one of its many short walking trails, followed by lunch nearby. This afternoon, head out to one of the Kimberley’s most magical experiences — a sunset cruise across the vast, island-studded waters of Lake Argyle. As your boat winds through the lake’s northern reaches, keep an eye out for rock wallabies, freshwater crocodiles and the diverse birdlife that calls this inland sea home, before settling in to watch the sun sink behind the Carr Boyd Ranges with a drink in hand. Dinner is at your own expense in downtown Kununurra.

6 Day 6: Purnululu National Park & Bungle Bungles (BL)
Today is the centrepiece of your Kimberley journey — a full-day scenic flight from Kununurra into the heart of Purnululu National Park. Your day begins with a scenic flight over the Ord Irrigation Area, Lake Kununurra and the full expanse of Lake Argyle, taking in views of the Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges before landing at a remote unsealed airstrip deep within the park. From there, transfer by air-conditioned 4WD to explore the Bungle Bungle Range on foot, with a guided walk among the striped, beehive-shaped domes on the Domes Walk. Continue into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open into a natural amphitheatre with awe- inspiring acoustics, for a well-earned lunch. Walk along the sandy bed of Piccaninny Creek and learn about the Kimberley’s six seasons and the traditional custodians of this ancient landscape. Your return flight to Kununurra takes in further spectacular views, including the Argyle Diamond Mine.

7 Day 7: Kununurra to Fitzroy Crossing (BLD)
Travel the Great Northern Highway west toward Fitzroy Crossing, watching the landscape shift as you leave the eastern Kimberley behind. En route, stop at Geikie Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise from the Fitzroy River — take a short walk along the riverbank, or join an optional boat cruise to spot freshwater crocodiles and wildlife beneath the ancient gorge walls. Settle in for the night at Fitzroy River Lodge, on the banks of the Fitzroy River.

Yes, Kimberley Tours have a wide range of passengers from children to adult who are 90 years of age. You need to read the itinerary and review the fitness levels required prior to deciding if the tours is suitable. Each tour is different.

Do you have any tours on offer during November, December, January or February?
The Kimberley region offer tours from May through to September generally, but there are always unique offerings outside of these dates. However you can visit different locations such as Perth, Central Australia or the Wildflowers and Margaret River at different times of the year. No, this accommodation will be an cost extra, but we can assist you to book this at great rates and we will ensure you are staying at either the same accommodation of somewhere near by.

Where is the meeting point for the start of tours ?Generally, tours will start at the hotel listed as the pre tour accommodation options. This will be listed in yore final travel documents.

Do I need to arrive before Day 1 of my tour ?
Please refer to your specific tour, in most cases you will need to arrive the night before your tour departs. Please check flight details listed for each individual tour. If this is the case we can arrange pre tour accommodation on your behalf, this will be an extra cost.
Day tours or Short Breaks may start later in the day on Day 1 so you can arrive that morning which will avoid the extra nights accommodation cost. We can help you plan some extra activities pre or post tour to extend you holiday and make the most of your trip.

How do you calculate the number of days for Kimberley tours ?If you are doing a 4 day tour commencing on April 8th, the first day of the tour is and includes the 8th, plus 9th, plus 10th plus 11th and the tour ends on April 11. This would be 3 nights and 4 days on tour.

Do your tours operate over Christmas and New Year?There are generally not as many extended tours in the Top End or Broome Region due to the weather at this time of the year. There may be day trips or short breaks for the holiday season. Explore Perth or Central Australia. Tasmania or a Murray River Cruise are popular in the Australian Summer months.

What should I bring with me?
Each guest may bring one soft-sided bag only, with a maximum weight of 15kg. Hard suitcases are not permitted.
- Please also pack a small day pack for items such as water, sunscreen, and your camera.
- Luggage storage is not available at the Broome hotel.
Horizontal Falls Overnight Experience
- A strict 5kg limit per person applies to overnight luggage. Our guide will hold the balance of the passenger’s luggage on night 10.
- The seaplane operates under strict weight and balance regulations. You will be required to declare your weight at the time of booking.
- For safety reasons, guests weighing over 120kg cannot be accommodated. The rules are strict on seaplanes.
- You will be weighed before boarding. If your actual weight exceeds your declared weight by more than 2kg, boarding may be refused with no refund.
- If your weight changes after booking, please advise us at least 30 days prior to travel to discuss available options.
- The overnight houseboat is licensed; therefore, no BYO alcohol is permitted.
